FREEDOMWORKS 08/03/2017 FIRE THE DIRECTOR OF IRS!

Representative Ted Yoho had hoped to spend the August recess in his North Florida district making the case for a tax overhaul. Instead, the third-term Republican said he doesn’t know what to say when his constituents ask what the revamp will mean for them. “There is no detail,” Yoho said in an interview. “It is a problem.”
The White House and GOP have indicated that tax cuts are the next legislative priority, with the aim of completing legislation before the end of the year. Last week, White House officials and congressional leaders released a statement outlining their agreed-upon tax principles. For rank-and-file GOP members like Yoho, though, the vague statement won’t be enough to help rally support for what President Donald Trump and top Republicans have said will be a once-in-a-generation rewrite of the tax code. Read more here...

Obama’s IRS was one of the most corrupt government agencies in his administration. Lois Lerner used it to target innocent conservatives, then Obama’s crony IRS Commissioner John Koskinen covered it up!

Unfortunately the IRS’ abuse of power didn’t stop there. They hired corporate henchmen to carry out their audits (which was illegal) and THEN passed a regulation to make it legal!

That’s why FreedomWorks is asking you to contact President Trump right now. Urge him to repeal this crony IRS regulation today.
2. Time to Fix Our Nation's Aviation Systems - via Competitive Enterprise Institute
Every day there are delays, poor routing decisions, and flight cancellations as a result of an outdated system for air traffic control. How antiquated is it? All across America flight controllers use paper strips to track thousands of flights across the skies and must hand them off each time a plane passes; from the controller responsible for incoming flights, to the controller responsible for planes on the ground, and finally to the controller managing outbound airspace.
Thankfully, recent announcements from the White House, Department of Transportation, and lawmakers in Congress suggest that fundamental reform is finally coming. It would bring the American system up to the organizational standards that Canada, the United Kingdom, and some 60 nations have already adopted. Consequently, we’ll see top level safety standards improved, more rapid deployment of technology, and significant savings for Americans everywhere – whether they fly or benefit from air cargo. Read more here...
3. Don't Bring Back Earmarks - by Jason Pye via The Daily Caller
Sigh. Here we go again. The House Republican Conference is quietly discussing the possibility of bringing back earmarks, or dedicated federal funds in appropriations bills usually for pet projects in a member’s district or state. The organizations or projects for which these funds are earmarked aren’t the subject to committee hearings and serve some special interest. Earmarks are pork-barrel spending by another name.
In November, House Republicans considered a proposal spearheaded by Reps. John Culberson (R-Texas), Mike Kelly (R-Pa.), Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), and Tom Rooney (R-Fla.) to revive earmarks. The thinking is that earmarks would make it easier for congressional leadership to trade for votes. Read more here...

5. The Innovation Destroyers - via Washington Times
Which government agency has done the most to destroy innovation? The American Founders tried to create an environment to foster innovation, because they understood new inventions would increase the well-being of the citizens. And that is the reason the Constitution enabled Congress to create patents of limited duration.
Most politicians say they favor innovation, but at the same time they create regulations, taxes and government agencies that hobble or prohibit that same innovation. One of the most notorious innovation killing agencies is the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), whose mission is to “protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation.” Read more here...
