MUTH'S TRUTHS 04/04/2017

Thank you, Harry Reid!

If not for Reid deploying the “nuclear option” over judicial nominations during the Obama years, highly-qualified constitutionalist Neil Gorsuch wouldn’t be going onto the U.S. Supreme Court this week.

Talk about being hoisted on your own petard!

And let’s give Hillary Clinton an “assist” for being gracious enough to run one of the worst presidential campaigns in history which allowed Donald Trump to win the White House last November despite the media’s frantic efforts to beat him and nominate Mr. Gorsuch.

Heckuva job, Hilly!

Cheers.

P.S.  From the Department of It Ain’t Over ‘til It’s Over comes this item today from POLITICO…

“House conservatives and the White House are mulling a potential agreement to revive the GOP Obamacare replacement bill that was pulled from the House floor just over a week ago, POLITICO has learned.

“The House Freedom Caucus, the group of three-dozen conservatives that helped bring down the bill, has been in talks with Trump administration officials about changes to the legislation that might get them to ‘yes.’  One option seriously being considered, multiple GOP sources said, includes allowing governors to opt out of some Obamacare regulations on the insurance industry.

“The developments could mean that Speaker Paul Ryan's bill might not be dead after all - or at least indicate that continued discussions are going on behind the scenes."

NEVADA NEWS & VIEWS

Yesterday, Citizen Outreach filed an official complaint with the Nevada Secretary of State’s office alleging violations of the state’s campaign fundraising laws by Assemblyman Billy “Double A” McCurdy Junior (D-Las Vegas) who is now serving as Chairman of the Nevada Democrat Party and soliciting funds during the legislative “blackout” period (which has nothing to do with race!) while the Legislature is in session.

Do I think gift cards should have expiration dates?  No.  Do I think it’s the proper role of government to ban expiration dates on gift cards for private businesses?  Hell, no.  Yet that’s exactly what the above-mentioned “Double A” McCurdy’s AB 287 would do.

This, again, comes from the anti-business/anti-free market mentality of people like McCurdy who have never signed the front of a paycheck.  Look, if you don’t like the fact that a certain gift card has an expiration date, DON’T BUY THE GIFT CARD!  Sheesh.

And speaking of anti-private enterprise, AB 442 would outlaw private prisons in Nevada.

Meanwhile, Nevada Assemblywoman Olivia Diaz (D-Las Vegas) is sponsoring the latest in dumb-ass bills in the 2017 Nevada Legislature with AB 340, which would boost welfare payments to buy diapers.

Now, I know I’m old (58 tomorrow!), but I still remember the “old days” when moms used cloth diapers and, you know, WASHED and reused them instead of filling up Republic Services' landfill with expensive disposables.

From the Department of Profiles in Legislative Courage, freshman Assemblyman Jim Marchant (R-Las Vegas) was the only level-headed vote in opposition to an energy sub-committee resolution (AJR10) expressing opposition to Yucca Mountain on Monday.  Ballsy.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“President Barack Obama’s National Security Advisor, Susan Rice, allegedly ordered surveillance of Donald Trump’s campaign aides during the last election, and maintained spreadsheets of their telephone calls, the Daily Caller reports.  The alleged spreadsheets add a new dimension to reports on Sunday and Monday by blogger Mike Cernovich and Eli Lake of Bloomberg News that Rice had asked for Trump aides’ names to be ‘unmasked’ in intelligence reports.” – Breitbart News, 4/4/17
